Mets Have Not Contacted Sheffield
Posted by JD on February 10, 2010
Finally, a rumor I can get behind! Gary Sheffield told George King of the Post that “the Mets haven’t contacted him”. It’s nice to hear that a 41 year-old outfielder with bad knees and a worse attitude has “things on the table” at this point in his career. Good for him! But it’s even nicer to hear that the Mets aren’t one of them.
That being said, would I be shocked if the Mets announced tomorrow that they’ve re-signed Sheffield? Not one little bit.

He could still probably hit better than Francoeur, and field better than Murphy. What’s up with this team? Is there any kind of actual plan here? Bill (ondeckcircle.wordpress.com)

Sure seems like there isn’t. There’s probably still a little pop in his bat, but they’re better off without him. But you’re right: sure seems like there’s no plan at all.
