Where we endeavor to stay positive about the 2011 Mets…

Mets Minutia – 12/6/09

Posted by JD on December 6, 2009

David Wright had a tough year in 2009. His batting average and on-base percentage weren’t awful (.307 and .390, respectively), but he recorded the lowest slugging percentage of his career, .447. In addition, he set a career low for home runs with 10. For a frame of reference, he 14 as a rookie in 335 fewer plate appearances. So yeah, tough year for David.

With that in mind, I figured I’d list the 9 pitchers victimized by Wright in 2009 (this is Minutia, remember?). Jamie Moyer, hang your head in shame!

April 13, Walter Silva, San Diego Padres*
May 4, Javier Vazquez, Atlanta Braves
May 7, Moyer, Philadelphia Phillies
June 9, J.A. Happ, Philadelphia Phillies
June 30, Mike Burns, Milwaukee Brewers
July 25, Wesley Wright, Houston Astros
July 31, Doug Davis, Arizona Diamondbacks
August 5, Kyle Lohse, St. Louis Cardinals
September 12, Moyer and Brett Myers, Philadelphia Phillies

*I still find it amazing that, despite his struggles hitting the ball out of the park, Wright hit the first Mets’ home run at Citi Field. Even in such a crappy power year, he hit a (relatively) historic home run.
